More About Me…
I am a classically-trained chef, mom of two, runner, kombucha-brewer and lover of all things Nordic. Creating delicious food has been a life-long passion of mine. Some of my earliest memories are of helping my mother bake bread to sell at a farm stand in rural New Hampshire. As a child, I spent summer vacations visiting my Swedish grandparents’ Stuga in Upper Michigan, where I learned the art of making Fika treats, jam from freshly picked raspberries and catching and frying up fish from Silver Lake. My family life has always been infused with traditions around food, and I became fascinated with reading about and experimenting with international cuisine. After graduating from college, I decided to forgoe my academic plans to follow my heart to culinary school. Since that time, I’ve been blessed with incredible jobs in top restaurants and bakeries, culinary instruction, and eventually my own catering and custom cake businesses. My years working as a chef took me on many journeys abroad, where I discovered a new thrill and challenge in pairing food and wine. This led me to spend time working in the wine industry, which was the perfect compliment to my culinary passion. Today, Norr Table is a joyful culmination of returning to both my roots as a chef and learning more about the Scandinavian heritage that first inspired me.
“Norr”, meaning “North” in Swedish, reflects my love of all things Nordic, not just in food but in the rich cultures and traditions of these Northern countries. I find that infusing Nordic ingredients with other global flavors creates exciting, fresh and interesting new takes on traditional classics. I love nothing more than being inspired by the seasons, growing my own vegetables and sourcing local ingredients to use in my cooking. As a recipe developer, I am also fortunate to collaborate with small wine and spirits producers from around the world to add an extra dimension to the dining experience.
